Semaglutide (Injection)
Overview
Compounded semaglutide injection is a once-weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is prescribed only when a licensed U.S. provider determines it is clinically appropriate for you, and it is prepared individually by a state-licensed U.S. compounding pharmacy in response to a patient-specific prescription.
How it works
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It acts on receptors involved in appetite regulation and slows gastric emptying, which may reduce hunger and increase the feeling of fullness after eating. Your provider will discuss what to expect in your individual situation.

Safety and side effects
Side effects are commonly gastrointestinal, including nausea, constipation, diarrhea, and reduced appetite. Tell your provider about any history of pancreatitis or gallbladder disease, and about any personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2. Contact your provider about any side effect that concerns you. In an emergency, call 911.
